Joseph Charles Lamon is a licensed
marriage, family, and child therapist, and a member
of the Department of Psychiatry for a major HMO in
southern California. He specializes in stress management,
brief-term psychotherapy, psychiatric crisis intervention,
and relationship therapy. Joseph has an M.A. in Clinical
Psychology from Pepperdine University and a B.S. in
Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University.
A very early influence in his professional
career was Viktor Frankl, M.D., author of "Man's
Search for Meaning," who Joseph met in 1971.
Joseph describes his meeting with Frankl as a very
positive life-changing experience. Frankl taught Joseph
that discovering one's true meaning in life is man's
primary motivator. Another inspiring influence was
Donald W. Schafer, M.D., well-known psychiatrist and
hypnotherapist - Joseph's mentor, supervisor for clinical
hypnosis, and friend until Dr. Schafer's passing in
2000.
Joseph has extensive
experience successfully treating anxiety and mood
disorders, and resolving family and marital problems.
He has performed crisis and trauma intervention for
police and fire departments. Since 1990, Joseph C.
Lamon has hosted radio talk shows and been in demand
as a guest lecturer on stress management, communications
issues, assertion training, enhancing self esteem,
and general psychology.
Joseph specializes in various forms
of stress management, including:
- teaching relaxation breathing
- imagery experiences for both relaxation
and motivational / inspirational goals
- utilization of humor and music

Joseph C. Lamon is a member of
the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) the
California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists
(CAMFT), the South Carolina Association for Marriage
and Family Therapy (SCAMFT), and the American Association
for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
